Get a taste of cuisines from all-around the earth and and listen to audio with a worldwide beat this weekend in the Western Gateway.

The Environment Foodstuff & Tunes Festival returns to Western Gateway Park, 1000 Grand Ave., Aug. 25-27.

The party that started off in 2005 in the Historic East Village with two dozen distributors moved to the Western Gateway in 2017 and now showcases far more than 50 food vendors, audio from all-around the globe and extra with the Pappajohn Sculpture Back garden making the great backdrop. 

Who is doing at the Planet Food stuff & Songs Festival?

Guests arrive at the start of the 18th annual World Food and Music Festival at the Western Gateway Park, 1000 Grand Ave, on Friday, September 16, 2022, in Des Moines featuring nearly 50 vendors from 27 countries from around the world as they provide live entertainment, cultural enhancement, and culinary opportunities for guests from September 16th through September 18th.

Latin songs, music from the afrobeat genre and vintage rock addresses are just a sample of what attendees can be expecting to listen to in the course of the weekend at the most important stage, which is positioned in the vicinity of the John and Mary Pappajohn Education Center.

Latin Grammy winners Flor de Toloache deliver the sounds of Mexican mariachi music on Friday at 8:30 p.m. The all-woman ensemble launched in 2008 is led by musicians Mireya I. Ramos and Shae Fiol. In advance of their overall performance, the Des Moines South American and Andean fusion tunes group Son Peruchos will choose the stage at 6:30 p.m.
